Day 1: The Lord's Day

Day 1

Whew.

I began the day at 6:20 a.m., about 35 minutes later than I intended. I’ve been getting to bed later than 11 p.m., which basically guarantees I won’t wake up at my target of 5:45 a.m. I still got into the Word first thing, though. I’m doing a study on a few verses in James 2 that address showing partiality among brothers and sisters in Christ. It is good.

Then breakfast happened, along with making some espresso in the Breville espresso machine that my wonderful wife bought me. Don’t worry, she bought it before I became unemployed. Our budget is on lockdown mode!

In between everything, I would hop into my office to try to get a few tasks going, including updating my blog/portfolio site at tangentus.github.io and setting up a laptop that was given to me by my previous employer. Going from an Intel Mac on Monterey to Apple Silicon running Tahoe was not fun. I had some login items and system settings that corrupted my account. Good thing it didn’t take four hours to migrate that account—oh wait. I’ve got it set up with a new account now, and I’ll bring over my other account alongside the new one to try to troubleshoot the issue.

Then Church. God bless that Church (Five Stones Church in Chattanooga—come see us!). We were prayed over, hugged, and encouraged by our Church community. Our boys are overjoyed to go to Church, which makes this daddy’s heart sing. It was good, y’all.

I’ve also built some architecture plans for my AI orchestration configuration that I’m really excited about. I’ll be using my M4 Pro MacBook, which has 24 GB of memory and can run some of the smaller models (7B, 9B, and perhaps 14B, though that may be stretching it). I’ve got a lot to learn about running and tuning models locally, but it’ll be good fun. I also have a SER8 Beelink mini PC that I bought some time ago for running local models. I’ll use Claude and Grok for high-level architecture, orchestration, and any other complex tasks that need to happen.

We had a Church event tonight that was as fulfilling as it was tiring. Our new baby boy (one-month-old) has been crying incessantly. We’re trying all sorts of things; it’s just really hard right now. But man, is that little boy a blessing!

Tomorrow I plan on establishing and registering a business in Tennessee. I still have some research to do, so it may be a bit of a stretch to get it done tomorrow, but I’m going for it! I’m just taking small steps and stacking them together to make a BIG move. I’m asking God to use me as He wills and praying as often as I can.
