Day 13: Busy
Day 13
I woke up today and spent some time on my front porch with my Bible and a book called Providence by John Piper. It was an excellent morning; there isn’t much better than a hot cup of coffee, the sounds of nature in the early morning, and my American flag blowing in the wind. I spent some time in silence, which always grounds me and is also admittedly kind of hard to do. I try to spend 10 minutes in silence just praying and asking God for advice.
Next up was working on some projects. I’m finalizing a Church workflow for mission trips that the pastor’s wife and I built using PushPay. I also did some architectural review for my brother-in-law for a project that he wants to do. I had another interview at 10 a.m. with a recruiter for a company that is pretty interesting. My Wife and I had to discuss what we would do, given that one interview process is progressing very nicely, and I’m almost done with it, while this interview would sort of start a brand-new process. We found some clarity, though, and know what we’re going to do.
We left around 2 p.m. today and headed out to a friend’s house, which was about 2.5 hours away. We’re celebrating their daughter’s birthday tomorrow and are spending the night to hang out and catch up. The boys were extra excited because a) they love these friends and b) it’s a pool party, which they’re stoked about. It’ll be a good weekend to recharge with friends, along with some good Tennessee driving. If you don’t know, Tennessee has some of the most beautiful drives in the country (in my opinion). I always get a feeling of peace taking long drives through TN because there is so much undeveloped land and space for people to grow.
This evening, I had an In-N-Out cheeseburger—my all-time favorite—courtesy of my best friend. I basically inhaled my burger and fries—if you haven’t been, DO IT!
Lastly, I got some exciting news today. I’m moving on to the final Executive Interview with one of the companies that I’m interviewing with, and they’re checking my references. I’m extremely excited about the possibility of landing a job at a company that I’m really stoked about (the team was really cool to collaborate with). So ya, I’m entering into the weekend with good vibes. Praise God!
God Bless!
