Day 17

I’m incredibly excited to say that I’ve accepted a job offer at the company that I’ve been interviewing with (name of said company to be announced soon)! I received the wonderful call today after our prayer night for our church, which seems so fitting. I’ve purposefully kept my phone silenced and didn’t check it during our prayer nights to really tune in to what the Lord was saying to me in the time of worship. It is incredibly fitting that after that time of focusing on Him first that He revealed His plan.

One of the things that stuck out the most to me was the verbiage that was used by my new direct leader: “You seem like a perfect fit for our team.” I’ve been praying for that, and I’ve asked others to pray for that. How wonderful that, in His Grace, He blessed me with that confident phrase. He is a Good God.

So ya, I’m S T O K E D to say the least. I don’t plan on ceasing my blog entries now that I have ended my RIF journey. I intend to make more posts that are tech-centric and nerdy. I have a lot of things that I started in my time of unemployment that I’d like to see through and to write about. Namely: a full local LLM stack and hand-tailored harness, an agentic team built out that will maintain a new project that I haven’t shared publicly yet, LLM tuning for resource-strained systems, an email subscription service, and more!

I honestly can’t wait to start working. I probably sounded desperate to my future team when they asked when I would be willing to start and I said, “I’m unemployed and my hands are looking for work, ASAP is fine for me!” The truth is that it’s not desperation; it’s a desire to do what I’ve come to love over the past 10+ years: software engineering.
