Day 9: Prayer
Day 9
It was a normal start to the day: some Bible reading, some studying in a book called Providence by John Piper, and a hot cup of black coffee. Then my best friend, my Tier 1 Support team, notified me of a bug on this blog. I ran into a compilation issue that left the blog rendering a mostly blank HTML page :/. Codex and I fixed that real quick, and we were back up and running in 15 minutes or so. Once my sons woke up, I made them breakfast, did some job searching, then had to head out.
I mowed a lawn for the next part of my day. I oddly enjoy mowing and weed-eating. Being a desk-dweller, physical labor for a purpose is satisfying, not to mention getting to witness the outcome—a clean lawn. So, that was fun and laborious.
I came home and continued working on my OpenClaw setup a bit more. I have my OpenClaw Gateway set up on my home lab machine (the Beelink SER8) with an OpenClaw node running on my MacBook. I still have to study quantization to see about further tailoring my local setup, or just moving to the MLX framework, which is purpose-built for unified-memory systems such as Apple Silicon. Anyways, I’m troubleshooting simple tool calls, which I haven’t really gotten working yet. I’ve built a simple harness, and I mean real simple, so I understand the fundamentals. It all gets a little abstracted away when you select a large harness like Codex or Code or Claude Code though, so you’re not sure what is missing and what is possible. Anyways, that ended with me configuring raw logging on my gateway so that I could actually visualize the raw responses from Qwen rather than the responses after OpenClaw normalized/formatted them. I also did a Codewars challenge today in a continued effort to maintain the craft.
We had some tutoring for my oldest, then an amazing prayer night with my Church. Let me tell you, fervent and consistent prayer in a church community unlocks some serious levels in the Kingdom of God. Day by day my humility is increasing (this has been my main prayer lately: an increase in humility) and my Faith is strengthening. I don’t know what is next but God does. I’m gonna lean into that, y’all.
