Day 6: Patience Is a Virtue
Day 6
Today was probably the hardest day of unemployment. I didn’t feel good all day, plus I had the anticipation and buildup of potentially hearing interview results. Not to mention I had my first coding interview with a company (via a platform called Karat).
In addition, we were leaving for a trip today to spend the night in Duluth, GA so that we could take our boys to see Dude Perfect on tour. Now, I’ve been extremely convicted about this trip because I’m broke (remember, annual salary of $0). However, we bought the tickets pre-RIF and booked the hotel via points that we had earned. We’ve packed sandwich stuff and snacks so that we don’t eat out and have leveraged our hotel membership status to get free breakfast. BUT we still had to pay for gas to get back and forth and parking at the event venue. I’d love to hear opinions on this! In our opinion, it was acceptable because we have savings and aren’t in dire straits. We could be wrong.
So, the morning was spent interview prepping. I also spent time working on an email subscription service which I will link on my project page soon. I intend to use it on tangentus.github.io so that you (all of the maybe 1 of you) can get emails for my new posts. I wrote that with ChatGPT 5.6 (light reasoning) and used Codex as my harness. It went very well; I’ve reviewed most of it and it came out fairly polished, implementation-wise.
I also published a few of my Agent Skills to ClawHub. After doing that, I started writing a Skill to publish to three different shared skill repositories so that I could automate the process moving forward. I’ll probably host a GitHub repository that will be the source for publishing to ClawHub, skills.sh, and AgentSkills.io.
My interview coding session went pretty well. The technical questions section wasn’t too surprising, though I got tripped up talking about some Cookie mechanics between browser and client. The coding portion wasn’t too bad and I talked through my coding quite a lot.
We left for GA around 2:15 p.m. and driving was super smooth. The boys watched a movie (our baby slept the whole way) and the Wife and I spent time catching up on the day. I won’t lie, we checked my email 1,000 times for updates on the interview processes that I’m going through right now. She is such a highlight of every one of my days—she gets me. As they say in Friends, “She is my lobster.”
Every day is a God-ordained and God-envisioned day. So it was a Good day. God bless!
